About us

The birth of Inner Compass Eco Adventures

In March 2018 I discovered the sport of paddleboarding. I immediately fell in love with the serenity of being on the water and enjoying my surroundings including the native flora and fauna and the many animals that inhabit the rivers, lakes and ocean including manatees, dolphins, and shore birds.

The name Inner Compass Eco Adventures is based on the premise that, in some way, everyone seeks a life balance that brings them inner peace and an internal sense of direction. Being in nature reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings. Exposure to nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, it contributes to your physical wellbeing, reducing blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and the production of stress hormones.

In September of 1989 I began a long career in local government as a Parks and Recreation professional. Parks and Recreation taught me about building community, molding future leaders through sports and recreation, expanding on my love of nature and the great outdoors and providing a high level of customer service. In November 2019 I retired after a 30 year career of which I spent 21 of them as a Parks and Recreation Director. I felt a little lost and needed purpose in my life. I was seeking a new challenge that would coincide with my life principles and decided to share my love of paddling with the community. Thus Inner Compass Eco Adventures was born!

It has also proven to reduce the symptoms of ADHD in children. When you reduce stress and your emotions are in a positive alignment it helps bring balance to your life. This gets your inner compass back on the path towards your true north. Towards building the life that is aligned with your highest self. Spending time on the water on a paddle board or in a kayak is a great way to help get your inner compass in alignment. The serenity of the natural world along with quietly gliding through the water creates many close encounters with the animals that inhabit it. When you paddle with us you will instantly feel the stress leave your body and will soak in the beauty surrounding you.
